The DAV, as a national organization, has available benefits experts across the country. Their role is to help veterans navigate their VA benefits and provide counseling for veterans on claims and appeals— all at no cost to the veteran.

DAV CHAPTER 84 - VACAVILLE

Local DAV chapters offer trained Veterans Service Officers to act as a bridge between the veteran and the Veterans Administration, and local veterans service nonprofits.

Our local DAV chapter conducts a 4-phase veterans assistance program:

Phase 1:

Reach out to find and identify unserved, under-served, or transitioning veterans.

Phase 2:

Conduct a preliminary screening to determine immediate and longer-term needs

  • Complete an initial Chapter “Needs Assessment” form

  • Complete an initial Chapter “Needs Assessment” interview

  • Gather all appropriate paperwork

  • Prepare and file an initial VA claim with assistance of a Chapter Veterans Service Officer and regional DAV veterans service officers (Oakland or Sacramento)

Phase 3:

Match need to provider. Refer the veteran to governmental, and / or nonprofit organizations, schools for educational assistance, and potential employment resources as determined by the preliminary screening.

Phase 4:

Follow-up on success of accessing veterans assistance as necessary.
